Interactive Audio Instruction Programs
South America and the Caribbean
I developed two interactive audio instruction programs to enhance English language learning. English for Colombia, funded by the Colombian Ministry of Education, was designed to bring English education to over 200 schools across the country. English for Latin America, created and funded by the Education Development Center, aimed to support English learning throughout the region, including 185 schools in the Dominican Republic. For both programs, I played a key role in curriculum design, script development, and audio production—leading recording sessions, editing content, and assembling the final programs. Additionally, I co-facilitated teacher training and conducted pilot evaluations to ensure effectiveness and impact.

From musician to digital learning leader
my story
I have established a career at the intersection of international development, learning design, and digital storytelling. Select the right arrow button to learn how a love for music led to a passion for helping others develop skills and realize their potential.

Writer, producer, and performer
Musician
From ages 16 to 25, I wrote, recorded, and produced seven full-length albums. During college, I formed a live band and performed on stages such as the iconic Apollo Theatre. A decade of writing and recording music honed my ability to transform ideas into polished digital products. Leading a band taught me how to communicate a vision, leverage the strengths of team members, and resolve conflicts. Performing on stage helped me develop confidence in front of an audience, while managing the band's social media sharpened my skills in capturing and editing compelling photos and videos. These experiences, combined with a bachelor's degree in English with a focus on technical writing, paved the way for my first professional role in communications.
-
Communications intern
Voice of America
In 2008, I moved to D.C. for an internship at Voice of America where I gave tours of the building to tourist, wrote articles for the website, and edited videos for the communications team. This was my first experience working in a multicultural environment, as I worked with the various country teams to develop web content. To make the studio tour I led more engaging, I wrote and performed a song about VOA during my weekly tours.
-
Technology Specialist
Education Development Center
In 2009, I landed my first full-time role at Education Development Center (EDC), where I managed the recording studio for the ICT team, produced videos for the Communications team, and provided support to the IT team as needed. During this time, I built a mentorship with Kit Yasin, who introduced me to Interactive Audio Instruction and Instructional Design, shaping the next steps in my career.

Producer, writer, and voice actor
English for Colombia
In 2010, I moved to Barranquilla, Colombia, to produce English for Colombia (ECO), an interactive audio instruction program for the Colombian Ministry of Education. I served as the lead songwriter, scriptwriter, voice actor, and audio engineer for the English for Colombia (ECO) team. I brought two main characters to life—a young boy and a parrot—while also editing all 100 audio programs into the final product, which continues to be used to teach English across Colombia today.
-
English teacher
Universidad Del Norte
Most of my work on the English for Colombia (ECO) program took place in the evenings. During the day, I taught advanced English at a local university. Balancing face-to-face instruction by day and developing distance learning content by night, I gained valuable insight into engaging learners in both environments—and, most importantly, realized how much more there was to learn about designing and facilitating effective learning experiences.
-
Curriculum developer and lead producer
English for Latin America
In 2012, I returned to D.C. to rejoin EDC, this time with a clearer sense of purpose. With experience in learning design and production, I took on the role of curriculum designer, script and songwriter, and lead producer for English for Latin America, an interactive audio instruction program. Additionally, I supported a youth development project in Honduras, producing virtual sessions, developing e-learning content, and conducting teacher training.
-
Instructional Design and Technology Masters Degree Student
George Mason University
While working for EDC during the day, I attended graduate school at GMU at night studying Instructional Design and Technology. This project-based education helped me understand how theory translates into practice, provided practical experience working with others to design and develop digital learning products, and solidified my beliefs about learning design.
-
Blended Learning Specialist
GHPOD
In 2015, after earning my master’s degree, I joined the Global Health Professional and Organizational Development project as a Blended Learning Specialist. In this role, I designed blended learning journeys and produced e-learning and multimedia content to complement both virtual and face-to-face learning experiences for USAID health sector staff. Over the next five years, I advanced to Senior Learning Specialist, leading the professional development team and expanding my skill set to include facilitation.

This team of digital learning specialists designs and produces e-learning, videos, podcasts, augmented reality, and virtual instructor-led training for projects across the company. From 2020 to 2025, I grew the DLH team from 2 to 12, expanding the company’s portfolio and capabilities to create experiential digital learning experiences. In 2024, I also assumed the role of Workforce Development Director, leading a team of 15 learning and organizational development specialists supporting USAID's Bureau for Global Health.
