Saul Goode… Nah It’s Greater Than That

There are many rappers that represent NC and I stand behind (most of the time) any person who does so. One of the only problems I have with rappers now is that they do too much talking. I like the fact that people are working together and supporting each other, but I feel like people are getting too soft. I miss the liquid swords, grimy, rap like you don’t care who is listening style.

Saul Goode isn’t breastfeeding off the idea of holding hands and singing kumbaya with other rappers. He’s cutting peoples heads off. You knew him as Zano in Endless Mic years ago, I suggest you get to know him as Saul Goode now. The “Most High” tracks exemplify the quality and control most rappers should be aiming for in a duo rap group. The “B.I.T.C.H” tracks… well they prove that SG is 100% himself 100% of the time- crazy.

Seez Mics of Educated Consumers – “Broken Clock: Skeleton Key” ft. DJ Cam-One

FINALLY someone makes an album filled with songs that are thought provoking without forgetting to be entertaining. Seez Mics of Educated Consumers and DJ Cam-One teamed together  to release “Broken Clock: Skeleton Key” last week. I’ve seen Seez around DC a few times, at different shows and cyphers, and knew he was both talented and respected. This, however, was my first headphones experience of his work. “Headphones on, no distractions.”

This album reminds me of the type of lyricism that got me into hip-hop, mixed with a style that seems to be futuristic. In that sense it is both old school and ahead of its time. It’s filled with songs that you have to rewind a few times to fully understand, and layered with enough metaphors and analogies to make each listen through a different experience. The songs piece together to share an insight on human nature, creatively pointing out the ridiculousness of it .

“It may be wrong along the way
but a Broken Clock is right twice a day.”

p.s. Seez Mics and I are working on a track called “Out of this World” for my new album, so check back in.
